For as long as I can remember, as an adult, I have wanted to own/host a Bed and Breakfast. One of the hopes we have had, since leaving Arizona, is to have one or two tiny homes on our property that we could turn into BnB’s. While this isn’t happening, and likely won’t on our tiny 10 acres. However, I now have procured a Cottage License. This allows me to sell homemade goods(oh if this page could be a scratch and sniff). It kind of feels like a bandwagon move. It’s trendy now to make sourdough goods to sell. This is not to follow a trend, but rather to put one foot forward in my own dream to host. While I won’t be serving these goodies direct to you while we sit around the kitchen bar and chat and drink coffee….. our door is always open to that ;). What can I say, I am Suhthun (that’s pronounced just as it appears and read in the voice of Clairee from Steel Magnolias) Belle and I love to fill our home with heartfelt conversation, warm drinks, fresh from the oven goodies, and as many loved ones that wish to sandwich themselves in.
Rabbit trail…… when the monkeys were growing up we lived in a 676 sq. ft. house. Yes, you read that right, 676. Their father lived there with us until 2015, so there were 5 of us living in a one bed, one bath ranch style house. We converted the den area to their bedroom, and later opened the attic up and converted that to their one big room.
Anyway, one year on Thanksgiving we invited another family 5 to join us. One of their daughters brought a friend. So there were 11 of us wedged in this tiny little room that, with the new attic staircase, had been squished down to 9×11 of dining real estate. I can still remember that room filled with so much laughter and genuine conversation. That would have been nearly 15 years ago now, and it is still one of my most favorite memories of that real tiny home. Who knew they would be so trendy today.
Back to the point at hand. I will be offering just a handful of tried and true recipes that I have made for a while, see how that goes, and later expand from there. Our quaint little town here hosts a Farmer’s Market on Thursdays and an Artisan Market is hosted at a local grocer on Fridays. I plan to start setting up there soon. This license does prohibit me from shipping sold goods, but I will be willing to meet if requested.
Currently, I will be making blueberry muffins with streusel, sourdough raisin bread, sandwich bread (white/wheat combo, or whole wheat), buttermilk biscuits, oatmeal choc. chip cookies, monster cookies, cinnamon rolls, and donuts.
